Obituary of Annie Laura Thompson
Annie Laura Brogdon Thompson went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 15, 2019. Ann was born in Hitchita, Ok on June 14, 1934 to Jerome and Laura Brogdon. She was the second youngest of 8 siblings, four boys and four girls. All preceding her in death.
After high school she left her family farm and moved to Tulsa. She got a room in a boarding house where she met Roxie and Nancy who became lifelong friends. In the late 50’s she met her husband, Jim Thompson. They had two daughters, Sherry and Shelly Renee who were only 10 months and 20 days apart.
Soon life with two little girls got very busy, dance lessons, girl scouts, PTA meetings and homework. Her family enjoyed spending weekends at the lake even in the dead of winter!! Ann was extremely gifted in her ability to create so many things. She was so excited to get her dream home of an old English Tudor near historic Woodward Park. When she decided to downsize, a couple purchased her home and she bought theirs, a smaller one-story Tudor a few blocks away. Lots of memories were made in the little house with the tiny upstairs chair room, the grandchildren’s favorite spot. In 2011 Ann found a townhouse in Owasso, just three minutes away from Sherry and her family. Ann adored her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
Ann did some traveling to Mexico, Amsterdam, Israel, Hawaii, and Colorado with friends and other places with her family.
She loved the Lord so much. She was a great prayer warrior for many. She loved spending time in His word and journaling her prayers.
Ann is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Sherry and David Johnson, Owasso OK; Shelly Renee and Paul Henning, Addison, PA.
Grand children: Ashley Striegler, Jeremy Hodges, Renee Henning, Erica Switzer, Kirstin Johnson, Sage Johnson, Madison Johnson and Baylor Henning
Great grandchildren: Holden Striegler, Juliet Striegler, Felicity Plant and Oliver Striegler.
