Obituary of Ola Mae Shaw

Please share a memory of Ola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

….I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.  Psalm 84:10

Ola Mae was born on December 26, 1928 in Boley, OK to the proud parents of Jerry and Savannah Roberson.  Later her family moved to Ringgold, Louisiana to raise her and her siblings.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Jessie Shaw on September 19, 1942 in Bristow, OK., to this union eleven children were born.

Ola Mae confessed and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age.  She and Jessie joined Tuskegee Baptist Church in Edna, OK.  They later joined King Solomon Baptist Church in Sapulpa, OK where she served faithfully and diligently as President of the Usher Board for several decades.

On June 26, 2019, God said, “Go Down Death” and bring my servant home.

Ola’s husband, parents and several siblings preceded her in death, as well as one son (Darnell) one grandson (Cedric) and two sons-in-law (Rayford Herrin and Leonard Burrell).

She leaves Ten Extraordinary children to cherish her memory

Jessie Shaw, Jr. Tulsa                                       Cora (Calvin) Broom, OKC

Pearlene Herrin, Sapulpa                              Luella Burrell, Bristow

Ronald (Lela) Shaw, Sapulpa                        Irene Shaw Johnson, Lithonia, GA

Carol (Melvin) Matthews, Sapulpa            Frances Shaw, Decatur, GA

Erick Shaw, Sapulpa                                        Derrick Shaw, Aurora, CO

Two Loving brothers,

Huey P.  and John D. (Bonnie B.) Roberson of Ringgold, LA

The extensions of her legacy consist of: twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

All who knew Ola will remember her as a woman of great strength and a loving spirit.  She was well known for her culinary genius, (I mean she could burn in the kitchen).  She was so neat and pristine, she would put Mr. Clean to shame.  She was generous and kindhearted, always willing to help others and quick to give a smile.  She was an honorary doctor, accountant, teacher, businesswoman, CEO and commander-in-chief.  Ola was truly a phenomenal woman phenomenally.
