Obituary of Carl Patton James Jr

Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carl Patton James, Jr. passed away July 16, 2019.  He was 74 years old.  Carl and Elaine, his wife of 37 years, made their home in Sand Springs.

Carl was born in Kansas City, Kansas to parents 9-14-1944 to Carl and Mary James on September 14, 1944.  Both parents preceded him in death.

Carl graduated High School in Drumright, OK in 1962.  He served in the US Army as a Pharmacy Specialist in Germany from 1965 – 1967.  He was a PFC, received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.  After being discharged, he attended OU in Norman, Oklahoma for 3 years where he was studying to become a Pharmacist.  Carl changed his career plans and began working for the US Postal Service in 1969 and retired in 1999 after 30 years of service.

Carl enjoyed many hobbies and activities from race car driving, fishing, hunting, single action shooting, wood working, square dancing and sailing.  Anything he did, he did it with precision and accuracy, spending many hours of research to make sure he had all the information he could find.  However, his favorite thing in life was his family, which he loved and cherished beyond anything else.

Carl is survived by his wife, Elaine James.  His oldest son, Andrew James, his daughter, Adriana Dupus and husband John and his youngest son, Daniel Drucker and wife, Andrea Drucker. He is also survived by his sister Peggie Long and husband Bill, his sister Sherrill Lindsay and husband Mike and sister-in-law Wanda James. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl James, Mary James-Lytle and his brother Billy Clyde James.

Carl was blessed with 6 grandchildren; Isaiah, Josiah, and Samuel Dupus and Lilly, Molly and Gus Drucker.

Carl was a dedicated husband and father, grandfather brother and uncle.  Known to his family as ‘Buddy”.   One of his favorite things was the weekly visits from his children and grandchildren every Sunday at his house.

He was a fan of any sport.  His favorite baseball team was the St Louis Cardinals.  Teased as being a car trader by friends and family, it was estimated that he had owned around 100 cars in his time.  You never knew when you pulled into the driveway if someone was visiting or if he’d just made a new deal.
