Obituary of Oren Melvin Monroe Jr.

Oren Melvin Monroe Jr., of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, passed away on September 3, 2019, at the age of 76. He was born on November 29, 1942 in St Charles, Missouri.

Oren grew up in Torrance, California, with his parents Beatrice and Frank McKnight, his sisters Orlene and Barbara, and brother Robert.

Oren joined the US Army after graduating from high school and became a paratrooper, until he was honorably discharged. After leaving the Army, Oren joined American Airlines as a Planner/Maintenance Scheduler working at Los Angeles International Airport and later transferring to Tulsa International Airport. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career with American Airlines, until his retirement.

Oren was blessed with a large family. Sons Joe Monroe and Tom Monroe, step-daughters Lorrie Greene and Ginger Fowler, nine grandchildren: Gage Monroe, Jeremy Monroe, Ryan Monroe, Ashlyn Monroe, Michael Monroe, Ryan Greene, Rayna Gil and husband Austin, Tina Fowler, Kassandra Cullipher, Misty Gill and husband Sammy. Daughter in-laws Christina Monroe and Shelley Monroe, and son in-law Rick Greene. Niece Dawn Brown and nephew Robert Hogue. He also had sixteen great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean Monroe, parents Beatrice and Frank McKnight, sister Orlene and stepson Darrell Wayne Reese.

Oren enjoyed playing poker and dominos. He liked to spend his leisure time at the casino or hanging out with his friends at the Sapulpa Elks lodge.

Visitation – 4:00PM-8:00PM Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel in Sapulpa.
