Obituary of Evelyn Louise Reed

Evelyn Louise (Crayton) Reed, left this world to be at peace with Jesus on September 4th 2019 at home with family by her side. She was born March 11th 1934 to D.H. and Fayonia Crayton who preceded her in death, along with her husband John W. Reed, son John M. Reed, sister Janie Powell, and brother Don Crayton, and beloved niece Alisa Cue.

 

She is survived by daughter A. Shawn Whitehead (David Whitehead), Sherry K. Reed, and Son Steve T. Reed (Becca Reed). B.J. Reed (daughter–in-law), adopted daughter Sherron Churchhill. She is also survived by sister Bonnie Heath, Sister Frances Wing and broth Del Crayton, grandchildren Amanda D. Schofield (Robert Schofield) John M. Reed II (Dusty Reed), J. Casey Battle (Carrie Battle), Roger M. Reed (Amber Reed), Clinton W. Battle (Jessica Battle), and Chance L. Reed.  She had many great-grands, nieces, and nephew’s that she loved dearly and taught them all about God.

 

She graduated from Daniel Webster High in 1952 and was in the Civil Air Patrol as a pilot for 2 years then married and began raising a family. She loved her horse and all animals. Her favorite hobby was her bird houses and watching all the birds that made their homes there. She loved to travel, read and loved learning. She was a teacher for over 50 years at church and her church was her family also.  She retired from the City of Tulsa 11 years before she completely retired in 2009.  At 70 she went back to College. She had a full and long life and was loved by everyone she met.

 

The family would like to send a special thank you to our extended family the Wilson’s and Bell and Gloria Quintanar family.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at Tulsa Hills Baptist Church at 10:30 on Saturday, September 21, 2019.
