Obituary of Thylia Joy Hellard
Thylia Joy Hellard was born June 11, 1947 in Vinita, Oklahoma. Joy gained her angel’s wings on September 26, 2019 at her home in Kellyville, Oklahoma.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Emmanuel and Wildon Moritz, stepbrother Richard Moritz, and her daughter Lisa Marie Hellard. Joy lost Lisa Marie at the age of 11 years, after a long hard-fought battle with cancer at St. Jude’s Hospital and local Tulsa facilities.
Joy is survived by her cousins, John Wesley Thomas of Sand Springs, Wayne and Kay Hawkins of Sand Springs, and many second, third, and fourth cousins.
Joy worked most of her career in the health care industry holding many positions including nurses aid, lab technician, and coding. She worked many years at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital and retired from St. John’s Hospital.
Joy was a country girl, loved living on a farm, raising livestock, and caring for all her critters large and small. She had a great affection for cats and welcomed them into her life. She was affectionately known as the “Cat Lady.”
Joy was a member of CASA and was an advocate for children. She spent several of her later years representing children, and working to be their voice of hope, their protector, and to help them have a better life in a loving environment.
Joy was a lifelong Christian and loved the teachings of the gospel, and gospel music. Her passion for helping others and giving of herself was truly from the heart. Joy was active in the Kellyville Senior Citizens and Kellyville Library. She also collected dolls and books. She was surely one of the Angels Among Us.
