Obituary of Judy Kay Barr

Please share a memory of Judy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Judy Barr entered into her heavenly home on October 3rd, 2019 surrounded by family after a battle with cancer. Judy fought bravely until succumbing to her illness.

Judy Kay Hatten was born on January 23, 1952 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Clyde and Oneta Christian Hatten.  She grew up in Sapulpa and graduated from Sapulpa High School. While in high school, she married her husband of eighteen years, Paul Buckner. In her lifetime, she had many careers, but Judy was always first and foremost a caregiver to her family and friends. Judy enjoyed many hobbies that included painting, crochet, sewing, bowling, ceramics, fishing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her granddaughter Kaylee.  She loved dancing, concerts and music. She always cooked big family dinners and her family raved about her homemade chicken and noodles. She and her mother, Oneta Hill, were best friends and they were rarely seen without one another. Judy enjoyed sitting outside with her mom, sisters, daughter, and nieces.  She was the official hair expert of the family and she gave her family perms during the 80’s. In recent years, she spent her time volunteering on the PTA at her granddaughter’s school. Judy cannot be defined by one job in her lifetime because she was the type of person that tried many different things and she could figure almost anything out. Judy always helped her family, friends, or strangers in need, often giving when she did not have it to give.

She is survived by her daughter, Darla and son in law Bryan Burns of Tulsa, OK. Her brother Richard Hatten of Tulsa, OK, and sisters Norma and her husband Earnie Aldridge of Beggs OK, Margaret and her husband Jack Brawner of Nebraska. One granddaughter Kaylee Burns of Tulsa, OK.  One granddog Goldie Burns of Tulsa. She leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and a nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents Clyde Hatten and Oneta Hatten Hill, two brothers Clyde Jr Hatten, and Robert Hatten, and three sisters Barbara Dennis, Helen Hatten, and Esther Klingsick. Also, two companions Wayne Perkins, and Ted Evans.

While Judy may be gone, she will not be forgotten and she will remain in the hearts of her family and friends.  Her family will cherish all the memories and hold on to the promise they will one day see her again.
