Carolyn graduated from University of Missouri in August, 1959 with a degree in Business Education.  On August 14, 1959, Carolyn married Burt Floyd Arnold.  He was the love of her life.

Shortly after marriage, Carolyn started her first teaching job at Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, KS.  At the same time, Burt was pursuing his degree at University of Kansas.  Carolyn and Burt resided in Bonner Springs, KS.
