Obituary of ROY LAWSON

Roy H. Lawson, 73, passed away July 19, 2009 at his home in Sapulpa. Those who loved and cared for him were by his side as he went into the arms of Jesus. Roy accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1990 and he attended First Baptist Church in Sapulpa. Roy has been a member of Local 669 for 36 years. Roy retired in 1991 from Grinnell Fire Protection. After his retirement Roy worked for Woodlawn Elementary for 6 years, he loved working with the staff and children. Roy and his wife were members of the Spectacular Square Dancing club. Roy loved camping, travel, OU sport and Sapulpa athletics.
Roy was born to Roy P. and Nannie Sara (Williams) Lawson on August 27, 1935 in Okmulgee County and grew up in the Salt Creek and Wilson areas. Roy attended Wilson and Henryetta schools.
Roy is preceded in death by his dad, mom, sisters: Clara, Clistina and Edna; brother; Jimmy Lawson who passed away on July 18, 2009 and Grandson ; MichaelYork.
Survived by his loving wife; Doris Ann (Goodman) Lawson. They were married on November 10, 1954 in Shulter, Ok. Out of this union three children were born; Connie (Lawson) York, Roy A. Lawson and Brenda Lawson. Roy was Papa to 10 grandchildren; Larry, Jennifer, Amie, Deena, Brandy, Lisa, Bridget, Erica, Lindsey and Brooke. Roy also had 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother; Garland and wife Velma Lawson; sister-in-law; Mae Lawson and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Roy's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Roy is loved and missed by all.

Monday July 20, 2009 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Tuesday July 21, 2009 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, Wednesday July 26, 2009 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and Thursday July 23, 2009 from 9:00 am to service time.
Service:
Thursday July 23, 2009 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Sapulpa.
Cemetery:
Green Hill Memorial Gardens Sapulpa.
