Obituary of Della Mae Sutterfield

Della Mae Sutterfield of Sapulpa, OK passed away on April 6, 2020 at the age of 87. She was born April 7, 1932 in Depew, OK to William and Iva Legrand. Della often spoke of the many blessings and journeys she had in her life. But perhaps her most significant accomplishment was being regarded as the “family secretary”. Della never hesitated to call family and friends to report the latest happenings or simply express her love. She was a very creative and crafty woman. From paper towel and toilet paper rolls, to Kleenex boxes, and empty yogurt containers. Della could find purpose in what most people would consider trash. Her other passions included crocheting, baking brownie cake, and bartering at garage sales. Aside from her Lord and her family, the other great love in Della’s life was Elvis Presley. She had even recently convinced an ambulance driver to play some Elvis songs as she was being transported from the hospital back to her nursing home. Her charismatic and charming personality, as well as her contagious laugh and smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Della is survived by her sister Betty and brother-in-law John Butts; children, Carol Sutterfield, Scott Sutterfield and daughter-in-law Beverly Van Meter; grandchildren, D.J. Sutterfield and Brittney Windham, Jeff Sutterfield and Amy Green, Shelbi Sutterfield, Nicolas Sutterfield, Jessika Van Meter, Drew Krajicek, Brittni Krajicek, and Cydni Krajicek; and great grandchildren, Trinity Sutterfield, Penelopi Sutterfield, Levi Green, Kelsie Green, Aiden Green, Kolton Windham, Justice Van Meter, Jakob Van Meter, Zaiden Van Meter, and Kevin Van Meter; as well as many other family members. She is preceded in death by her father, William Legrand; mother, Iva Legrand; sisters, Mary Jane Permenter and Marie Kiddy; and brother, Bill Legrand.
