Obituary of Penelope J. Boren

Penelope “Penny” J. Boren passed away on April 14, 2020 at St. Simeon’s Episcopal Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Homer and Betty Boyd on January 28, 1943. Penny attended Cherokee, Monroe and McLain schools and kept up many friendships from her school days. She married Charley L. Boren on September 19, 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma. Through her marriage she gained a daughter, Barbara, and later the couple was blessed with 3 more children: Charles, Kevin and Ron. They lived in Turley and later Skiatook and Penny worked as a cook for Tulsa Public Schools. She held other small jobs over the course of her life but her most important job was as a homemaker and mother to her children. She enjoyed couponing, going to garage sales, watching re-runs of Gunsmoke, reading John Grisham novels and Dwight Yoakam. Penny loved to eat crappie, especially when it was caught by her father. She baked the most delicious cookies and enjoyed spending time with her friends and her family. More than anything, she loved God and her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Penny was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Betty Boyd; her husband Charles Boren; sons Charles “Chuck” and Kevin Boren; and brother Homer “Skip” Boyd, Jr. She is survived by her son Ron Boren and wife Terri of Skiatook; daughter Barbara Boren; sister Pam Lanford and husband Jack of Owasso; Grandchildren Heath Boren (Shyloh), Chancey Boren (Rachel), Trey Boren, Kimberly Boren (Cyruss), Joshua Perry (Beth), Shawn Boren, Tasha Dorr, Jamie Yochum, Melissa Perry, Mary Perry, Layton Weishedel; many great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Apr 16 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Green Hill Funeral Home - Sapulpa 400 E. Teel Rd., Sapulpa Penelope's Final Resting Place is in Green Hill Memorial Gardens 400 E. Teel Rd., Sapulpa .
