Obituary of Marty Ralph Garrett

Please share a memory of Marty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marty Ralph Garrett of Broken Arrow passed from this life on Monday, April 27, 2020. He was born July 29, 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marty attended East Central High School in Tulsa. He was a self-employed and highly skilled computer technician, consultant, and a professional singer and song writer. He loved the Lord and attended Walnut Grove Church. You could often find him talking about the Lord. He shared stories about the Lord and his beliefs. Marty enjoyed people and his dog, Floyd. He would often try to “lighten” things up but could be serious when needed. He was a gifted songwriter and the Lord had given him many songs to pen for Him. He was always trying to help others believe in themselves when it came to music or playing an instrument. He would take an interest and often put himself on the line to help others fulfill their dreams. Marty wrote a book called “How to Break into the Music Business Without Breaking Your Heart or Your Bank Account.” He could tell you how many pages, paragraphs, words, and chapters it contained. Once technology advanced, he revised it and reintroduced it into a smaller format with condensed information needed to be utilized today. Marty often promoted David Ingles Music and loves working there when he had the opportunity, with David Ingles and the Oasis Network Staff. Marty also helped many people with their taxes and helped them maximize their return by utilizing legal credits, write-offs, etc. Many people were blessed through his efforts and work. Marty always seemed to be working on something. He was either working, trying to find work or he was working on his music. The songs the Lord had given him. He was always trying to get the right mix, the right sound, the right vocal, etc. We often thought everything was good, but he wanted to improve them. A perfectionist? Perhaps, but maybe he just wanted to do his best he could for the Lord, to honor Him with the talents he had been given. Marty loved his children and grandkids. Though he was limited with what he could do and do for them, he always did what he could and was always there for them if they reached out for him to help. He always tried to encourage and bring hope to their situation. Marty was so rich with friends and those who loved him. He is survived by his wife Brenda of the home; his 3 children, daughter Lauren Emmaleigh Hack of Tulsa, Son Cody Lee Garrett of Bixby, son Aaron DeWayne Garrett of Tulsa; 6 grandchildren; his mother Marie Levan of Tulsa; his younger brother Joseph Darren Levan of Tulsa; Uncle Grady Garrett of Idaho.
