Obituary of Mark Edwin Calvert

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mark Edwin Calvert was born into this life on November 13, 1969. He was the first-born son to James Edwin Calvert and Dianna Kay Payne. His first three years of life were spent in a blissful dream until suddenly he had to share everyone and everything with his little sister. Mark was the perfect big brother. No one could harass his sister but him and pity the fool who did try to hurt her in any way shape or form. Only he could make her mad enough to beat him with a Raggedy Ann doll and only he could shoot her in the rear with a wooden match shoved into a pellet gun and then apologize when she cried. Mark liked to work on anything mechanical. He liked to write his name or initials in Sharpie wherever he could. He started out painting semis. For the last 12 years he worked for Lamproe Construction driving a dump truck. His childhood dreams come true. Numerous people have told family that Mark was just like a big brother to them. He may huff and puff but, in the end, once he knew he was needed he was there. He was funny, he was dramatic, he was private, but he loved very deeply and always wanted to care for those who were struggling more than he was. Mark left this life of labor on June 28, 2020, in the wee hours of the morning. We wish we could have been there holding his hand, but deep down we know it was not what he would have wanted. He would want to slip away with as little notice as possible to rejoin the rest of our family waiting on the other side. He leaves behind his Mom, Dianna and his stepdad, Dale, one sister, Machelle and her husband David and three nieces. We could try to name the friends and acquaintances but there are too many. Just know that he was loved, despite his crusty exterior and he will be missed until we see him again. Rest in Peace Mark. The family has requested that everyone that comes to Visitation and Funeral Service wear a mask. There will be disposable masks at the funeral home for those that do not have one. www.greenhillok.com
