Obituary of Dean Block

Please share a memory of Dean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Van “Dean” Block was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on January 16, 1946 to parents Lawrence and Pearl (Jordan) Block. He passed away July 5, 2020, at the age of 74. Dean served his country in the Army National Guard as a Medic as a young man. He started his own carpentry business and worked until he retired at 63. In his younger days he loved fishing and camping. Later in life he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, sneaking them treats (donuts) and “eating” their toes. He had a love for animals. Dean loved animals more than most people, especially dogs. Dean was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Pearl Block and grandson Luke Gaither. He is survived by his daughter Kelly Gaither and husband Tim of Bristow, OK as well as their five children which he adored. He loved spending the past 13 years with Alexander and Alexis Chadwick, Issaiah, Destiney and Outumn Gaither. He is also survived by 2 sons, Ricky Block and Richard Block, both of Glenpool, OK and one daughter, Gwen Honeysuckle and her 3 children of Arkansas. His daughter Kelly cherished the times they would sit on the back porch and drink coffee and talk for hours. She was his caregiver over the last 4 months and will always cherish the time they had together…even when he drove her completely crazy. He was greatly loved and will be missed. A Memorial Service will be held at the Veterans Pavilion in Green Hill Memorial Gardens at 10 am on Monday July 20, 2020. www.greenhillok.com
