Obituary of Sherri Lynn Smith

Please share a memory of Sherri to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The Life of Sherri Lynn Pete-Smith On April 4, 1970, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Sherri Lynn Pete was welcomed into the world by her parents, Skelton Pete, Jr. and Doris Noble Green. Sherri was the youngest of five children. Her dad, Skelton Pete, Jr. and eldest sister Gayle Pete Baker preceded her in death. Sherri’s paternal grandparents, Skelton Pete, Sr. and Frances Rhodes Pete; maternal grandparents, Ray Noble, Sr. and Evelyn Montgomery Noble also preceded her in death. Sherri attended Sapulpa Public Schools and was in the class of 1988. Sherri received training at the Sapulpa Vo-Tech in food management. She worked in the food management industry and currently as a customer service representative. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making comfort food for her family and in recent years, she had started making Caribbean dishes. Sherri also loved butterflies and they loved her. Whenever she was outside, butterflies of different sizes and shapes would gravitate and land on her. She was very funny and had a laugh that was infectious. When she laughed, everyone would join in. Sherri had the type of personality that attracted many friends. From childhood, she valued her friendships and was a dedicated, committed, generous friend. She loved hard and once she became your friend, it was forever. Sherri accepted Jesus Christ as a child when she attended Flipper Chapel AME Church. She later was a member of Dave Roberson Ministries and One Body Ministries. In recent years she was a member of Transformation Church. Sherri was a born again believer and had a close relationship with God and she introduced her children to Jesus while they were young. She strongly adhered to the scripture “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Prov. 22:6 KJV) Her close relationship with God led her into making sure her children knew God and each of them accepted Jesus Christ when they were young children. She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Marcel Pete of Wichita, KS; Jasmine Pete, Sydney Pete, Shomer Pete and Matthew Smith, and her longtime companion Winston Bennett, all of Tulsa, OK. She leave five beautiful grandchildren, Keilani Rose Pete of Ellenwood, KS; Kendall NaShawn Harris, Royalty Marie Lynn and Chasity Rose Bates, Aurora Auliya Sky Calston, all of Tulsa. She also leaves her mother, the Matriach of her family, Doris Green (Pastor Bobby), one sister, Karen Pete; two brothers, Darryl Pete (Sheila) and Reginald Pete, all of Tulsa, and one brother-in-law, Raymond Baker of Fayette, AL. She also leave behind two aunts Rev. Patricia Jones of Tulsa, and Roberta Pete-Broom of Sapulpa, OK and one uncle, Oscar Pete, Sr., of OKC, OK as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her memory. We will truly miss our mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, nieces, cousin and friend. RIH Sherri. www.greenhill.com
