Obituary of Lannie Joe Severs

Please share a memory of Lannie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lannie Joe Severs earned angelic wings on November 3, 2020 with his brother Dennis Severs and sister-in-law Lynn at his side. Born October 11, 1962 in Newton County, Missouri to Carol Severs but raised in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Lannie Joe spent the better part of his life working at the Sapulpa Herald newspaper. An ardent Dallas Cowboys fan, he never missed a game. He was quick with a joke, playfully teased everyone at every chance, and always left those he met with a smile. Though Lannie has passed from this earth he will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His playfulness and constant good cheer will be remembered fondly, and missed tremendously. Known affectionately by family and friends as "Uncle Vito," his good humor will be recalled through silly quotes and the gentle jabs. Those little moments, which caused so much laughter, are the best of what Lannie left behind. Lannie was a John Wayne movie buff and the Duke once said, " I have tried to live my life so that my family would love me and my friends respect me. The others can do whatever the hell they please." If those words are a standard of living, Lannie Joe nailed it. Lannie was preceded in death by his mother Carol Severs, Grandmother Marie Thurston, and his Uncle Sherman Thurston. He is survived by his brother Dennis Severs and wife Lynn, brother Danny Severs and wife Andrea, and sister Missy Wood and husband Robert. Lannie leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family extends a grateful and special thanks to nursing staff of Humanity Hospice for the care, love, and generosity shown to Lannie in his final days. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th from 1-8 pm. Funeral services are at 2 pm on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Green Hill Funeral Home with interment in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. www.greenhillok.com
