Obituary of Lloyd Elton Fulks

Please share a memory of Lloyd to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We just lost another good one! Lloyd Elton Fulks departed this life on November 9, 2020 at the age of 97 years and one day, to be reunited with his loving wife of 62 years, Betty, his son, Larry and his dad and mom, Cecil and Ruth Fulks, who are all celebrating his arrival with them in heaven. Lloyd was born in Jenks on November 8, 1923 and passed away on November 9, 2020 in Tulsa. He graduated from Kiefer High School in 1942 and joined the United States Army Air Force later that same year, on October 26th. He was stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska and was being prepared for deployment when World War II mercifully ended. He was discharged with the rank of sergeant on February 1, 1946. While on leave from the service on June 8, 1945, Lloyd married Betty Louise Fox in Kiefer. He loved that woman, so it didn’t take him long, 2 months following his return home, to join her in employment at The American National Bank in Sapulpa. Lloyd needed a job, of course, and working at the bank with Betty afforded him the perfect opportunity not only to be near his new bride on a daily basis, but to launch a career that spanned almost 43 years. Lloyd retired from the bank, then American Heritage, on December 31, 1988. During his tenure at the bank, he served as assistant cashier, cashier, vice president and senior vice president. Most of his career was spent in the loan department, first in the installment area, and for the last many years, as commercial loan officers. He was elected to the bank’s board of directors in 1973. Lloyd was both loved and respected by his American Heritage family, his customers, his church and his Sapulpa community Lloyd was active in the community he loved, having been involved in many civic endeavors, including the Sapulpa Chamber of Commerce, the United Way and the Kiwanis Club. As a Kiwanian, he served as president, and in 1967, was awarded the highest honor a member can attain, the prestigious Leonard Biron Award. He was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Sapulpa, having served on their board of deacons. Lloyd loved the outdoors, fishing, boating, yard-work and, most of all, playing golf. He moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas in 1992 where he was on the links almost daily with his twin brother, Floyd, until moving to Tulsa in 2000. Lloyd is survived by his grandson, Robert Lloyd (Rob) Fulks and several nephews and nieces. In addition to Betty, Larry and his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Raymond, Floyd and Harold, and his faithful nephew, Johnnie Fulks. Remembrances may be made in Lloyd’s honor to your favorite charity. The Fulks family kindly and respectfully requires that a mask is worn during the services and thanks you in advance. www.greenhillok.com
