Obituary of Elmer Eugene Pruitt

“Reflections of Love” Elmer was born July 7, 1942 to Elmer and Viola Pruitt in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Elmer was the youngest of nine children. He was also known as “Bubba”. Bubba grew up in the community of Moccasin Park (New Addition). While attending Booker T. Washington in Sapulpa, he played the baritone and sometimes the drums in the band. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Midway. During this time he acquired the nickname “Pete”. On August 20th 1960, Bubba married his sweetheart, Etta Hackney, with whom he started dating at the age of 14. Once discharged from the United States Navy, he joined the Oakland, California Police Department as a Patrolman. During the time he served his community in law enforcement, he advanced to Crime Scene Investigator and later became Lead Investigator and Trainer with the Oakland Police Department. Bubba was hand selected several times by the FBI to attend FBI Academy Crime Scene Training in Quantico, Virginia. He was given many awards and recognition from District Attorneys for his excellence in investigations that led to solving numerous crimes. In 1997, Bubba retired and made Tulsa his home. Upon returning, he joined the Masonic Lodge #136. He later acquired the title of Worshipful Master. During his retirement, he returned to California several times to testify on cases that that he had investigated. Until his health began to fail Mr. Pruitt was a faithful member of the Sapulpa and Buford Colony First Church of God and Christ, both under the leadership of Elder Millard Jones. Being the Patriarch of the Pruitt Family, Bubba will be GREATLY missed! Bubba was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Lester, Mary Francis, Ersell, Kathryn, John Willie, Jesse, Floyd (O’Baby), and Zelma. Bubba leaves to cherish his memories: His wife Etta; children: Sandra (Elwood), Kiwona, Michael (Yvette), Kerri, LaDondi (Maria), Bridgett, Terrell, Jamie (Tony), LaQuandia (Milton), and Norman (Charmayne); 26 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson; a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly; and his oldest niece, Harrice Mitchell who was dear to his heart. www.greenhillok.com
