Obituary
Obituary of Betty Jo Lawson
Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Jo Lawson was born on April 13, 1929 to Albert Taylor and Lydia Majors Taylor in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of two children. She was received into the arms of Jesus at the age of 91 on December 26, 2020.
Betty grew up in Texas before eventually moving back to Oklahoma where she would meet and marry W. Raymond Pinkston. That union brought about three children Donald, Donna Jo and Kay.
Betty was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a devoted member of Westside Baptist Church for many years. She was an incredible seamstress and wonderful cook who enjoyed spending time doing so with her daughter and granddaughter. She was also an avid reader, a trait which she passed down to her daughter and great granddaughter. Most of all she enjoyed spoiling her granddaughter and grandson rotten, a job she took very seriously and did very well. Betty was a very hard worker. She helped her mother run the original Park Street Café in Sapulpa. Upon its closing she went to work at Gibson’s before eventually settling at Walmart where she honed her skills as a bookkeeper. A position which gained her respect and lead to her traveling to train others in newly opened Walmarts. Betty will be remembered by all for her sweet spirit, kind heart, and gentle disposition. She will be remembered by those who knew her well for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Lydia, her brother Billy, daughter Donna Jo, son Donald and her best friend Billie Brown. Betty is survived by her daughter Kay Johnson and her husband Don. Her grandson Brandon Engles and his wife Susan, granddaughter Brandi Houser and her husband Kyle, granddaughter Kimberly McIntosh and her husband Joshua. Her great grandchildren Bryce, Mitchell, Jensen, Kameron, Seth, Abbey, Jillian, Ryker and Rayden.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Green Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Monty McGee officiating. Interment in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
