Obituary of Donald Lindsey Newell

Don was 70 years old when he left this world on January 26, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born in Bakersfield, California to Louis and Lucille Newell and had 1 brother. All preceded him in death. In his early years, he liked riding motorcycles and was a sound man in a country music band. Don and Cindy were married on June 30, 2002. He was a heavy equipment operator for the turnpike, where he retired after 25 years. They liked getting in the car and driving around trying new places to eat. They kept a notebook in the car to write down a thumbs up or thumbs down to know if they wanted to try it again. Don loved the Lord, music, his wife and his fur babies. Later in life, they sold their home and went traveling full time, where they gained friends and extended family in Branson, Missouri; Louisiana; Kentucky and Texas. Home was where they parked it. Don never had many friends. He would say most people are just acquaintances but if he considered you a friend, you were among a privileged few. He liked playing cards, but he was a sore loser and would say “I don’t play to lose!”.
