Waymon worked for Frankoma Pottery for over 35 years while he and his wife raised their son Johnny. He worked the night shift from 6:00pm-6:00am as a night security guard and kiln operator. He would work all night but still make time to practice with Johnny before going back to work. He suffered from muscular dystrophy but always found a way to play catch, throw grounders, or throw passes with Johnny every day of the week. Waymon also enjoyed Nascar. He collected the die cast cars and watched them race every Sunday. He was also a devoted OU football and OKC Thunder fan. Waymon loved his family and especially his grandchildren, as he could be caught giving them rides on his wheelchair and pulling them around the yard in a little red wagon.
