Obituary of Donna Mae Smith

Donna Mae Smith, often known as “Mom” to many was born in Milwaukee, WI on November 16, 1933. She was the oldest of her siblings and spent most of her life in the Sapulpa area. She passed away at the age of 87 on Saturday, May 29th, 2021.
Donna attended St. Anthony's nursing program in Denver, CO in 1952. In 1989 she attended OSU Okmulgee Technical Institute and received her Associates Degree in Culinary Arts at age 57.
Donna was very passionate about sewing, crocheting, reading, and cooking. She enjoyed watching and trying to beat the contestants of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She loved animals. She enjoyed helping others and would open her home if someone needed a place to stay.
Donna was involved in many activities and hobbies which includes: Creek County Home Extension, served on the Creek County Library Board, 2020 club, RSVP club, sold Avon, Home Interiors, Watkins, was a Sunday school teacher, church bus driver, Sahoma Lanes bowling league, riding motorcycles. She also was a boy scout leader and girl scout leader. She loved entering her sewing projects, quilts, and canning in the Creek County and Tulsa State Fair.
She loved her family and children fiercely and enjoyed spending time with her grand- children and great grandchildren. Donna had many people who called her “mom” and was loved by many.
Donna is preceded in death by her father Vernon Turner, mother Hilda Karre (Klein), sister Hilda Brown, our dad Louis Ira Smith, great grand-daughter, nieces, nephews and numerous extended family and great friends. She is survived by her daughter Karen Magee of Mounds, daughter Crystal Karre of Tulsa, son Michael Smith of Sapulpa, daughter Kimberly Gunter of Broken Arrow, and Eugene Smith of Chelsea. Grand-children Dusty Garcia of Tulsa, Amber Butterfield of Glenpool, Cory Manley of Tulsa, Zachary Manley of Broken Arrow, Rachael Gunter of Broken Arrow, Dennis Edleman, David Edleman and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Donna was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Memories made with those she loved, have become treasures in the hearts of those left behind.
