Obituary of Gordon Eugene Burns

Gordon Eugene Burns (aka Lickity Split) was born on July 4, 1947, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Gordon Alvis Burns and Leona Grace (Arnold) Burns. Gordon passed away on July 27, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a battle with cancer. Gordon went to Sand Springs schools. He was a code welder and a mechanic in his younger years and as he got older, he decided to be a truck driver. He married Eva Jane Simpson in Huntsville, Arkansas on April 24, 1970. Together they had 4 children and a bonus son. He had 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and lots of friends and extended family. Gordon is survived by his wife Eva Burns, his mother Leona Paul of Sand Springs, his brother Jimmy Burns and wife Lisa of Sand Springs, his daughters Leslie Youngblood and spouse Ruben Freeman of Tulsa and Leona Hyle and husband Richard of Silver City, his sons Gordon Burns II and spouse Shanna of Tulsa and Jimmy and Janiece Burns of Cleveland, as well as his bonus son Robert Stokes of Cleveland and all his wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Gordon Alvis Burns, and his sisters Donna Robins and Linda Cook. Gordon loved camping, fishing, and spending time with his family. His greatest achievement was being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
