Obituary of Samlee Royal Harrison

Samlee “Lee” Royal Harrison passed away in the early morning hours of August 20, 2021. Born in Sapulpa on January 30, 1933, he was 88 years old. At age 16, Lee used his brother’s ID to enlist in the military. He served honorably in the Korean War as a US Army cook where he mastered the art of cooking with and hiding military rationed SPAM in every meal. He was a loyal employee at McDonnell Douglas for over 20 years and he was a proud member of the Sapulpa Elks Lodge #1118. If Lee was missing from his Sunday pew at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, you could find him near his RV with his dog and his friends from the local Good Sam camping club. On any of his three league days, Lee was consistently the first car in the parking lot at the Sahoma Lanes Bowling Alley. He also loved the game of golf and could often be found cussing in the T-box or trudging through the nearby woods in search of one of his many rogue balls. He loved to play cards, but he especially loved to win even if that meant changing the rules here and there. Lee worked hard at everything he did, and he ADORED his animals. He was rough around the edges, true to his word, and was always ready to laugh, tell a story, or tell it like it is. Lee was preceded in death by his daughter, Alma Lee and his beloved wife, Anita. He is survived by his brothers, Paul “Butch” Cooper, and Bill Cooper, and his children and stepchildren Tim “Jed” Hall, Dwayne Haller, Anita Mills, Jamie Haller, and their respective families, which include 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Lee, your determination, your integrity, and your laughter will be missed.
