Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shirley Irene Hill-McGuire was born to her mother Edna Irene Hill and her father John Franklin Hill on August 05, 1929 in Leavenworth, Kansas. Shirley was the youngest of the Hill family’s four children. Shirley attended public schools and graduated High School in 1942. Shirley Irene Hill became Mrs. Harley McGuire on December 25, 1947 in Fallsville, Arkansas. In 1953 they moved their family to Tulsa, Oklahoma and settled on the Sand Springs Line and eventually on 62nd West Ave., where the house they called their home remains to this day. Shirley was a faithful mother, wife and home maker. She was the mother of two sons and one stepson. She shared her love with her sons and poured the love of God into their lives. Shirley worked at Commander Mills in Sand Springs, OK several years until her retirement. Shirley enjoyed sixty-six (66) years of happy marriage with Harley before he passed away April 14, 2014. When Harley McGuire became an ordained minister on May 5, 1992, Harley and Shirley’s lives took on new meaning. Together they proclaimed the Grace of God. Many have had the joy of worshiping, singing and praying as Shirley led others in spiritual services throughout the years. Shirley’s singing skills were a gift from God. She used those skills as a singer in her worship ministry before the Lord of Heaven and earth. Shirley has blessed many congregations with the messages of her Christian music. Shirley served beside her husband as a bible teacher, and an evangelist in other churches before joining Guiding Light. Shirley and Harley McGuire have served the Guiding Light Church since being appointed its pastors on November 1, 2010 until Harley’s Heavenly transition. Shirley continued to serve as one of the Guiding Light worship leaders until January of 2021.
