Obituary of Mickey Alan Bilby

Please share a memory of Mickey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mickey Alan Bilby was born on March 15, 1968 to Harold & LaDean Bilby in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mick has three older siblings, Rick, Mike, & Tamara. He was the baby of the family. He was often described as both his Daddy's shadow & his Mama's boy. He was looking forward to spending more quality time with his brother. On August 23, 2021 Mickey's faith became his sight as he met his Savior face to face following complications with his liver transplant. Throughout high school & college Mickey was an avid football & baseball player. He went to college on a baseball scholarship where he met & later married Shelly. They had two children together, Kayla Bilby-West, & Brent Bilby. Mickey's children were his whole world. Following in his Father's footsteps Mickey went into the insurance business in 1988- at 20 years old. Harold, LaDean, & Mickey shared an office for many years. At the ripe age of 29 Mickey opened his second business, a Weber's Rootbeer. Before the age of 30 he had accomplished more than most businessmen do in a lifetime. While he loved his restaurant, insurance was his passion. In 2005 he closed the doors at Weber's & shifted his focus to growing his insurance agency. Despite the many awards & successes of his businesses, Mickey was most proud of his children. He pointed often to framed pictures of the kids & would tell them those were the awards that mattered most to him. In 2016 Mickey became a PawPaw for the first time! Sadly, our time with Braxton was short. In 2018 he became a PawPaw for the second time to Brooklyn Jase. She was the light of his life! No one ever spoke to Mickey without hearing about Brooklyn. They were truly inseparable! Although we take great pride in knowing & loving Mickey it was his relationship with Jesus that set him apart. Throughout his faith walk he was a deacon in children's ministry, a part of a plant team for a local church, a member of a praise team, Bible Class teacher and many other roles. He instilled Jesus Christ in his children from a young age. It is no accident both of his babies ended up in fulltime ministry. It was the prayers of a righteous man! After his liver transplant Mickey told everyone he could about God & what He had done for him. He was an unstoppable force in the kingdom. Mickey's last quarter was his best quarter Mickey is survived by his mother & very best friend, LaDean Bilby; his brother Rick Bilby & wife Jennifer; his daughter Kayla Bilby-West & husband Curtis; his son Brent Bilby & wife Roxanne; his granddaughter Brooklyn West & many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews & friends. Mickey supported his children's ministries relentlessly. We will honor his legacy by continuing on the path in which Mick laid a solid foundation. And we will continue his business with the same grace, pride & fortitude that he led with for 33 years. Mickey was deeply loved & will be sorely missed in the days to come. We hold to the hope that he is in the presence of our savior and we long for the day when we too will join him there.
