Obituary of Rubin Marteen Bowers

Please share a memory of Rubin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rubin Marteen Bowers took his first steps into his new Heavenly Home to be with the Lord and reunited with his beloved wife Betty on September 2, 2021. He was born on October 2, 1929, in Glenpool, Oklahoma to Tom and Lutisha (Castoe) Bowers. Rubin attended Glenpool Public Schools. On May 27, 1950, Rubin married Geri Morris and together they had a son, Rex Bowers on April 22, 1951. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in a divorce in 1962. Rubin and Betty met soon after and were married in 1963. Betty had two young sons, Kevin and Denny, whom Rubin later adopted. In 1975, Denny and Juikea had Jamie Bowers and Rubin and Betty took her in and adopted her as their own. Rubin enjoyed quail hunting, fishing, riding horses, running cattle and Betty’s home cooking. He was a faithful member of Slick Baptist Church for many years. That’s where he met his good buddies, Derrick, Raymond, and Bob. After many (AND YOU DO UNDERSTAND MANY MANY) trips to the E.R., Rubin decided he and Betty should sell the farm and move closer to the hospital. Rubin has thought for over 40 years that he didn’t have much time left. After Betty went to the nursing home, it seems he found a new purpose. Thus, the many (AND YOU DO UNDERSTAND MANY MANY) hospital trips subsided. On December 18, 2019, Rubin moved to Sand Plum Assisted Living in Bixby. He lived there until August 25, 2021, when his health took a rapid decline. At that time, he moved to the Cottages at Woodland Hills Nursing Home, where he passed peacefully in his sleep after living there for only one week. Rubin is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, his first granddaughter Stacy Dawn Bowers, and his son Denny Bowers. He is survived by his son Rex and his wife Vickie of Mounds, OK., and their daughter Lisa Turner along with her two daughters Madison and Megan Turner. His son Kevin and his wife Jeannie of Kiefer, OK., and their children Vanessa, Kyle, Kelby and his wife Cassie, JR and Jody Capps. His daughter Jamie and husband Britt Windeler and sons Carter and Everett. Denny’s son, John Bowers (better known as JOHN JOHN POLIAWASKI). He is also survived by his great grandchildren Vincent, Kayden, Serenity, KJ, Kevin II, and Kelsie Bowers.
