Obituary of Kathryn Marie Swayze

Kathryn Marie Swayze (Miller), most people called her Kitty, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Hillcrest Hospital, from cancer. She fought a good fight but lost the battle. She was surrounded by her family. She was born on October 24, 1945, at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma to her parents Ethel and Claude Miller. She had three sisters, Edna Louise Fisher (deceased), Laura “Diane” Flick of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Rhonda Landis of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kathryn was married to Cleveland Jennings Ash, Sr of Arkansas from 1966 until he passed away in 1976. In 1980 she married Edward Dale Swayze, Sr of Okemah, Oklahoma and was married to him until he passed away in 2017. Kathryn and Ed worked together at RC Cola plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma for many years until Kathryn and Ed started a taxi business. After those businesses closed, Kathryn earned her CNA and worked at Oak Dale Manor nursing home for a while then went to Rader Institution in Sand Springs working with disabled individuals. She worked at Rader until the state closed it and she worked for IOI as an in-home health care provider for individuals with disabilities. She continued with IOI until August of 2021, when she wasn’t physically able to due to the cancer and her treatments. Kathryn loved candy-making with family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed planning, cooking, and setting up for family celebrations and holidays. She also enjoyed food and cards (poker) games with her family on Friday and Saturday nights. She loved holidays, gifts and craft making with grandkids, where wonderful memories were made. She loved having those Saturdays with the grandkids, spending all day making mom and dad presents. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitch and sewing. She made blankets, scarves, and doilies. She could make any type of design. Kathryn is survived by her son Richard Ash (Amanda), son George Ash (Jamie), son Doug Swayze Jr (Nicole Ferness), son Eric Swayze (Tressa), daughter Teresa Blankenship (David), grandchildren April Hilburn, Heather Najera, Matthew Blankenship, Roy-Sean Ash, Andrew Ash, Katelyn Ash, Tyler Ash, Joshua Ash, Joel Ash, Hannah Ash and Dakota Swayze. And a great grandchild expected in November, Asher Wayne Kinzey. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Claude Miller, her sister Edna Fisher, her husbands, Cleveland Jennings Sr and Edward Swayze Sr, and her son C.J. Ash Jr. She was loved by everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed.
