Obituary of Helen Ann Barnes

Helen Ann “Dutch” (Burton) Barnes was born on March 8, 1933, to Dorsey Roland Burton and Nella Margaret (Neal) Burton in Sapulpa. On September 18, 2021, she peacefully went home to be with the Lord. She was baptized at the Full Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Tulsa at an early age. She loved her Lord and Savior. She grew up in Tulsa attending Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1951. She married Don Higley in 1951 and had three children. Karen, Kathy, and Don. She was employed by numerous companies in Tulsa during her life. Most recently, she was employed by the Tulsa U.S. Attorney’s Office where she worked for nineteen years and retired in 2015 at the age of 82. For the past eleven years she has lived in Sand Springs with her two daughters, her cat, Georgie, and additional fur babies who she loved with all her heart. She enjoyed reading, watching the Hallmark channel, having breakfast with friends, and going to the casino. She was quite lucky! She was proceeded in death by her Father, “Pat” D.R. Burton, her Mother, Nella M. Burton, and her Brothers, John and Bob Burton. She is survived by two Daughters and a Son, Karen Long of Sand Springs, Kathy Mohne of Sand Springs and Don Higley of Mannford, Grandson Ray and Deanna Bombardier of Hays, Kansas, Great Grandson Bryant and Kylee Bombardier of Hays, Kansas, Great Great Granddaughters Briar and Quinlee of Hays, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the most loving and supportive Mother and Friend. Always unconditional and unwavering without judgment. She will always be remembered and loved until we are united again in Heaven.
