Obituary of Virginia Laverne Vail

Virginia Laverne Vail, 85, of Collinsville, OK, passed away on October 14, 2021 after a long fight with dementia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edgar Vail Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jacobs; her son, Edgar Vail Jr; her grandchildren, Olivia Jacobs, Crystal Vail, and Amanda Howes-McGowan and her husband Jarrod; great-grandchildren, Makenzie Burks, Hailey Simpson, Vivian Burks, Grape Howes-McGowan, Alex Howes-McGowan, and Charlie Jacobs; sisters, Dolores Foster of West Columbia, Texas and Ann Tubbs and husband George of Pollok, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews. Laverne devoted her life to family, helping raise her younger siblings. On July 4, 1953, she married Edgar Vail Sr and later became mother to Kathy and Edgar Jr. She worked in school cafeterias until 1973, when she got her cosmetology license. She later built and operated her own beauty shop. She tried many times to retire, but she loved her customers and work so much, she didn’t actually retire until 2020. She was also active in her church, Maranatha Baptist Church, helping with many events and community outreaches. Virginia will be missed by all who knew her.
