Obituary of Winifred Lou Allen
Please share a memory of Winifred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Winifred (Winn) Lou Witwer was born January 27th, 1954 in Tulsa, to Heston and Lela Witwer of Sapulpa, OK. She passed away after a long battle with health concerns on October 23rd, 2021, at the age of 67 at St. Francis hospital in Tulsa. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brothers, Louis of Sand Springs and Scott of Sapulpa, son Benjamin Stephens of Verdigris, Timothy Stephens and wife Debbie of Verdigris, and daughter Shannon Boriack and husband Matt of Verdigris; Grandchildren; Ian Stephens and wife Lucy of Pryor, LillyAnn Stephens of Inola, AbbyGail Stephens of Verdigris and Olivia Boriack of Verdigris, and ex-husband, but close friend, John Allen of Eucha. Winn was fortunate in life to explore opportunities in things she cared about, such as training as an EMT, owning a tanning and hair salon, volunteering and working with various animal rescue groups in the communities which she lived, supporting her favorite local businesses and caring for others. Throughout her life Winn attended many different churches in the places she lived, including South Grand Lake Christian Church. While living at Grand Lake, Winn was a member of the Red Hat Society, and always had a good time with the girls. One of Winn’s passions was hosting events either at her house, or a special place she had picked for a family occasion. She always wanted everyone to have a good time, and truly was the reason her family gathered together on holidays. Winn was generous in heart and home, and donated both time and money where she saw need. She loved her family and dogs very much, and often put their needs in front of her own. Winn also loved going on lunch dates with her close friend Tonya Lackey, or visiting Cathy Walser and her husband Rick. She also loved bling and shiny things, and left a sparkle in the hearts of those that knew her. In her last weeks of life, Winn encouraged her daughter Shannon to “be the change, be the light”. Like the bright flash of a diamond reflecting the sun, life can change in an instant. Be the light in life that beams hope for kindness amongst humanity. You’re free of pain now Mom, we miss you very much, but know this is all only temporary. We’ll see you again someday.
