Barbara and I have been friends since the 6th grade and my girls always ask "who does that?" We spent many hours at Starlight Skating Rink, the Criterion Theater, the Teepee Drive-In, and the woods by my house on Mill Street. We wore our knee socks with our dresses all through school--yeah we were dorks, but we always had a good time. One summer we decided to write letters to each other and one of our other friends, Patricia Pilant, instead of calling on the phone...sounds dumb but it was great getting those letters, I wished I still had them. We would continue to see Patricia off and on through the years...now she and Barbara are dancing on those streets of gold. I remember asking Barbara one time if she had told her preacher I was Southern Baptist because every time I would go to church with her either just because or because they were having a revival, he preached on Jezebel...man, after hearing him preach on her so many times, I felt sorry for little ole' Jezzybelle. Right before we graduated from high school we went skating with her church again at Shell Creek, oh boy, concrete skate floor and all! Barbara falls breaking her leg and ends up walking across the graduation stage on crutches. Poor David had to put up with both of us on some of their dates because I never dated in high school so Barbara would drag me along. I did not always go but I really felt sorry for him having to put with the two of us. Barbara was just one you did not tell "no" unless you really had a good reason. David's crown will so jewel laden he is going to have to carry in his hand because he will not be able to hold up his head! Remember, family, we just have to keep our heads up and keep moving forward and again, Barbara got the upper hand! Sapulpa Chieftains - Class of 1971
