Obituary of Phyllis Rae Dick

Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Phyllis Rae Dick, born on May 27th 1952 in Claremore OK to Billy Ray and Betty Jo Dick, went to be with the Lord on November 3rd, 2021. Phyllis was raised in Chelsea and Alluwe, and spent a lot of time staying with her “Nannie”. She made many memories with her siblings and her favorite aunt, Edna Mae. In 1970, Phyllis was married to her high school sweetheart, Cecil Hester. The two of them made a family of 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. The family lived in Claremore and Delaware briefly, and then they finally settled in Skiatook, OK. Cecil and Phyllis were married for 15 and a half years. Phyllis had a large family: 5 children, 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Cecil Hester wife Lesa and their 10 children combined, 18 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren; Angela Peters and husband Lee and their 3 children and 3 grandchildren; Jeanie Huffaker and husband Daniel and their 3 children; Keith Hester and wife Michele and their 7 children combined and 4 grandchildren; and Scottie Hester and his 2 children; and 6 brothers. Phyllis is also survived by her loyal dog Rowdy of which she had for 11 years, and her puppy Stormy. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father Billy Ray Dick, her mother Betty Jo Dick, sister Brenda Kay Smalygo, 2 nephews, 1 niece, and 1 great niece. Brenda Kay was her best friend. Phyllis loved to go to the drag races. This was mainly because her daddy, brothers, and basically all of the boys in the family, as well as a lot of the girls, were big race fans. Most of them had and still have their own cars that they race. They all shared a love for the drag races, which was good ole family time. Phyllis loved to go to Blue Hole swimming in the summers, and she also enjoyed going out dancing to country music every time she got a chance. Phyllis owned a home daycare when her children were younger. She also had her cosmetology license, and she then worked on and off for many years in the medical field as a phlebotomist. In 1986, her daughter Jeanie set Phyllis up on a blind date with a guy named Clarence Godfrey, aka “Bud”. It went off like a hitch and the two of them were married in 1988. They lived mainly in Collinsville OK, and they were married for 28 years. They remained friends until her passing. Phyllis spent the last few years helping take care of her mom Betty. The two of them were great friends. They loved watching game shows together, and they never missed an episode of Judge Judy. Phyllis was 69 years old, lived in Collinsville, and died from Covid Pneumonia. She was a true hero to her family. She was the biggest fighter, and braver than you could ever imagine. She survived sinus cancer, breast cancer and fought the most courageous battle for the last 2 months of her extraordinary life. Phyllis went to be with the Lord surrounded by her children, kneeling at her bedside, begging God to take her home. Phyllis will be missed by all of her family, and all of those who knew her.
