Obituary of Gusta Lee Harrold

Please share a memory of Gusta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gusta Lee Bridges was born on February 11, 1926, to William Fred Bridges and Myrtle Priscilla Billips Bridges in Pocahontas Arkansas and she left this world on Thursday, November 11, 2021, in Jenks, Oklahoma. She was the 2nd of 5 children. When she was 4, the family moved to Chandler Oklahoma, then on to west Tulsa where she attended Webster High School. She met and married the love of her life Jack Calvert Harrold on July 2, 1943, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She became a mother for the first time on November 12, 1946, to Tommy Leroy Harrold, then again on August 9, 1951, to Willlard Everett Harrold and a third time on November 30, 1954, to Jackie Lee Harrold. Then just when she thought she almost had her boys raised, she found out she was going to have another baby. She hated the world and everybody in it because she just knew she was going to have another stinking boy! But that all changed on April 13, 1968, when she gave birth to her only girl, Kelly Frances. Her life was not an easy one, but she always made the most of it. She always found the brighter side of things. Sometimes it took a little longer to find it, but she always got there. In 1982 she laid her husband to rest after a hard fight with cancer. The boys were all grown and gone, and it was just the girls now. Thank God they had each other to lean on. After a while she reconnected with a life-long friend, Henry Vernon. They enjoyed spending time together playing bingo and going dancing. They fell in love and spent the next 25 years together before the Lord called him home. She loved to travel, especially with her two sisters, Frances and Genelda. She was always ready to go and the first one in the car. Gusta wore many hats during her working days. Everything from concession worker at the Crystal City Amusement Park to ticket taker, waitress, logging truck driver in California, to florist in her later years. She was a talented lady that was never afraid to take on a challenge. She was no stranger to heartache. She was preceded in death by her parents William Fred Bridges and Myrtle Priscilla Billips Bridges; 1st husband Jack Calvert Harrold, 2nd husband Henry M. Vernon; Sons Tommy Leroy Harrold, Willard Everett Harrold, and Jackie Lee Harrold; 1 brother Howard “Pete” Bridges, 3 sisters Genelda Louise Witten, Dorothy Marie Hatcher, and Wilma Frances Clark and many close friends. Not to mention all her furry children that she had to stop at the Rainbow Bridge and pick up on her way into Heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Griffith, and husband Lonnie of Bristow, 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Anyone who knew Gusta could not help but love her. She had an infectious personality. She loved even the unlovable. She would do just about anything for just about anybody.
