John “Raymond” Miller was born on March 04, 1925, in Skiatook, Oklahoma to Jonathan and Mary (Ecker) Miller. He was raised around Skiatook and Barnsdall where he was a local basketball star. He worked on a neighboring dairy farm when he wasn’t hunting or chasing hounds. In March of 1943 he joined the US Navy and served until 1946. He served on four ships: the SS Antigua, the SS Raymond T Baker, SS Ambrose Bierce, and the USS Kenneth Whiting (AV-14). When he was on leave, he met Beulah Miller, they married on November 21, 1945. They had three children: Sharron, Dannie, and John. For a short time, he worked for the county running a road grater and then he went on and started welding in different shops. Later he started a dairy farm where he and his family were able to work together. After selling out of the Dairy business, he started raising beef cattle while working the night shift as a welder in a shop. He did this until he went on to start a construction business from which he retired in his 70’s. John was preceded in death by his parents, his son Dannie, and his wife Beulah. He is survived by his son, John of Bristow, his daughter Sharron of Ponca City, and his brother Charles Wayne of Oilton, Oklahoma. There are also 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren on the way.
