Obituary of Murna Saunders

Murna Marie Saunders, 84, of Hominy, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Murna was born August 8, 1938 in Osborne County, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond and Florence Thornburg.

Murna met and married Gerald Murphy and raised 5 children. She wanted more out of life and moved to Newton, Kansas with her children in tow to become a machinist at Hesston Corporation and later built landing gears for Cessna Corporation. With Murna needing more of a challenge, she moved to Oklahoma, met and married Donald Saunders and became an over the road truck driver, working as a team with Donald, they delivered all over the United States for several years before retiring. To keep herself busy she sold Avon. When Murna wasn’t working and raising her children, she enjoyed fishing and camping.

She is survived by her children Jerry Murphy, Charlotte Guest, Brenda Breckenridge, James Murphy, Kaleen Hughes as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
