Obituary of Edward Euell Duty
Edward “Eddie” Euell Duty was born on February 1, 1941 to Amburs and Margie Duty in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Eddie passed away at 81 years old at Saint Francis Hospital on November 3, 2022 due to Congestive Heart Failure.
Eddie was mostly known as “Papa Eddie” by family. He was artistic in many ways such as playing the guitar and implemented upholstery work for some time. He loved to fish, hunt, ride motorcycles, and had a passion for Elvis Presley music. He developed a close relationship with God and accepted him as his Lord and Savior. Eddie attended Sapulpa First Nazarene and Forest Hills Baptist Church. He loved singing and playing the guitar during worship. He had a wonderful sense of humor, always telling jokes and making others smile. Of all things, Eddie was a family man. He loved his family deeply, was selfless, and would do anything for someone in need. He was an animal lover and took care of his beloved dog Mercedez until she passed. The neighborhood cats loved coming around daily because he made sure every one of them were taken care of too!
Eddie attended Glenpool, Jenks and Kiefer schools. After High School, Eddie worked at Bartlett Collins Glass, Frankhoma Pottery and then worked for the Sapulpa Fire Department for years. He achieved the rank of Asst. Fire Chief and retired with the title of Fire Marshall. Eddie was preceded in death by his mother Margie and father Amburs Duty. He was also preceded in death by his sister Marie Evans. Eddie was married to Sandra Robertson in 1961 and had two beautiful daughters Rhonda and Jodi.
Eddie is survived by his daughter Jodi Crane and daughter Rhonda and husband Kevin Gatrell, brother J.M. Duty and sister Marge and husband Ronnie Elmore. Grandchildren include Gavin and wife Lindsay Gatrell, Ashley and husband Andrew Wilson, Britta and husband Braden Byford, and Michala Krier. Great grandchildren include Ava Gatrell, Gavin Jr. Gatrell, Gunner Gatrell, Addilyn Gatrell, Mariah Wilson, Baylor Reyna, Bailee Fancher, Braylee Byford, and Braden Byford Jr. Eddie is also survived by his long-time friend and companion Teresa Harper including many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
