Obituary of Cecil Kirkwood

On Sunday, April 25, 2010, Reverend Cecil Leroy Kirkwood went Home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on February 14, 1937 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He married Imagean Stockton Stockton on December 21, 1954 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. They were together 56 years. Cecil is preceded in death by his brother, Homer Harold Kirkwood(2009), his mother, Hazel Kirkwood-Strain, his dad, Kerney Kirkwood, two brother Clifford and Gerald Kirkwood, two sisters, Virginia and Geraldine Kirkwood. Cecil is survived by his wife, Imagean Stockton of the home, son, Kerney Kirkwood of Sapulpa, daughter, Janice Holden of Sapulpa, two grandsons, Jeremy Kirkwood of Taft, Oklahoma and Eric Holden of Sapulpa, granddaughter, Sarah Fuller of St. Louis, Missouri, two great granddaughters, Ashlynn Fuller and Madeline Johnson-Kirkwood and two great grandsons__________, two sisters, Laverne Yocham and husband, Merl, and Lahoma Branum and husband, Mike, all of Jay, Oklahoma, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cecil worked at Frankoma Pottery for 40 plus years as a Master Mold Maker, even as late as 2006, also work for John Zink, 30 plus years, upon his retirement in 1998. Cecil Kirkwood is loved by all who knew him. He loved being with his family and friends. In his younger days he loved playing softball and going bowling with his co-workers. But his love for his Lord and Savior is what he looked forward to each day. At the crack of dawn each and every day he would be in his office reading and studying for hours and hours. He got so much pleasure from just spending time with Jesus. Cecil also loved singing and playing his guitar and even writing his own music. He has written over 1000 of his own songs. Although Cecil is not with us on earth anymore, he will always be in our thoughts and memories and our family will be united as one, again one day soon. Service will be 2:00PM, Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Green Hill memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM. The family has chosen to entrust the care of the service to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.
