Obituary of Ramona Jean Hewlett
Ramona Jean Hewlett was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 30, 1929 to James and Mary (Howell) Jamison. Ramona was the oldest of 2 girls. She went to meet her dear husband, Charles, on the path on February 16, 2023 at 94 years of age.
Ramona’s biggest joy in life was her family. Her dreams came true when she met a handsome young man named Charles Lee Hewlett at The Wells Hotel in downtown Tulsa where they both worked. They began their courtship in 1947 on their first date at Chrystal City amusement park. At the end of this date a smitten Charles proclaimed “I’m gonna marry you”. They were married a short time later, on August 27, 1947. In 1948 their first son, Harry, was born. Two years later in 1950 their second son, Charles was born. This fulfilled her lifelong dream of being a mother. She dedicated her life to raising her boys and taking care of her family. Once her boys were old enough to go to school full time Ramona started working at Carnation where she happily worked for many years. Education was always very important to Ramona, and she saw to it that her kids made their way through college where they both became teachers. Later, her love of education led her to work at Tulsa Public Schools in the Education Service Center. In 1974, Ramona became a Meme, when her first granddaughter, Carol, was born. Three years later in 1977, her second granddaughter, Mary, was born. This brought new joy to her life as she loved them as dearly as her boys. More joy came in 1986 with the birth of her first and only adorable grandson, Andrew, followed in 1988, by another beautiful granddaughter, Kelsey, and in 1993, with her final sweet grandchild, Bailey. She found that being a “Meme” to her 5 grandchildren was as fulfilling as being a mother.
She is proceeded in death by her father and mother, sister, and her husband.
She is survived by her sons Harry Hewlett (Jamie) and Charles Hewlett (Cheryl), her grandchildren Carol Mock (Brian), Mary Daley (Troy), Andrew Hewlett (Christy), Kelsey Hewlett (Alfonso), Bailey Young (Brody) and Traci Linneman (David), and her great grandchildren Kristen, Elizabeth, Charlie, Kaitlyn, Sam, Matt, Savannah, Reyndon (Kristi), and Rhyezin.
