Obituary of Joseph Limuel Bowers

Joseph “Joe” Limuel Bowers Sr., age 86, of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, March 5, 2023. Joe was born on March 10, 1936, in Charleston, Arkansas, to William Henry and Bertie Manila (McElfresh) Bowers. In 1954, Joe graduated from Central High School in Tulsa.

Joe and Frances (Ward) Bowers were married on September 20, 1954, and they enjoyed 20 memorable years together raising their family before she passed away.

On January 30, 1976, Joe and Lois (Burroughs) Bowers were married and spent 47 wonderful years together. Joe and Lois enjoyed fishing, playing games, dancing, going to Branson, spending time with family, and attending church at Owasso First Assembly.

Joe began his electrical career in high school where he started working for Atlas Electric in 1952. After high school, he quickly established himself as a trustworthy and diligent electrician. Joe started his own company J.L.’s Electric in 1971, and it is still in business today.

Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing dominoes and chess, and working puzzles.  He also liked watching OU football (when they were winning!), listening to music, writing poetry, and reminiscing about his childhood. Most of all he treasured spending time with his family and his faith in Jesus.

Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lois; five children, Debbie and husband Dwayne Gipson, Pamela Wright, Jody Bowers and partner Abby Dora, Robby Bowers, Angela and husband Jeffrey Beyer, and a legacy of twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters, his first wife Frances Bowers, daughter Kathy Sue Fry, two stepsons Billie Clark and Wayne Clark, and granddaughter Madeline Clark.
