Obituary of Joe Louis Matthews

Always & Forever in Our Hearts

Joe Matthews was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on July 12, 1940 to Milton and Idella Matthews. Joe was the third of seven children.

Joe retired from Tulsa Sapulpa Railroad, where he worked as a Locomotive Engineer and a Switchman, after 22 years of service. Oon December 7, 1995 Joe married Darla Dempy. They were blessed with their blended family of sons and daughters. He served as a Deacon and was a choir member at Macedonia Baptist Church in Sapulpa. He was a dog lover and loved his two remaining pets Pepper and Smokey.

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife Darla; children LaToya (Brad), Carla, DeNico (Shannon), Lesley, and Temequah. He also leaves several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Melvin (Carol); sisters Christine (Carey), Melissa; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Idella and Katie Matthews; brother Willie; sisters Margaret and Ernestine; and son Lawrence Breckenridge, III.

Joe will truly be missed.
