James (Jay) William Richie, 77, of Kiefer, passed away on March 21, 2023. Jay was born on June 29, 1945 in Roswell, New Mexico to Otis and Youvonna Richie. He graduated from Kiefer High School in 1963.

 

Jay joined the Marines after graduation. He served 2 tours in Vietnam. After his time in the service was up, he returned to Kiefer where he was a machinist and mechanic.

 

Jay’s favorite hobby was hunting. He was an OU football fan and loved talking about the game. He liked watching Westerns, Gold Rush and Homestead Rescue.

 

On September 28, 1991 Jay married Patty Watson. They enjoyed 31 years of joyous marriage together.

 

He is survived by his wife Patty; son Sean Richie and wife Tammy of Sapulpa; son Roger Watson and wife Charity of Broken Arrow; and daughter-in-law Cynthia Richie of Tulsa; 6 grandkids, Brittany, Baylee, Alyssa, Ashley, Rian, and Jacob; 2 great-grandsons, Bentlee and Oliver; brother Terry and wife Sherri of Fort Gibson; sister Diana Richie  of New Castle; brother-in-law David Jordan of Harrah; brother-in-law Stephen and wife Christine Williams of Maple Grove, MN; brother-in-law Kevin Williams and Jan Ray of Tulsa; as well as a host of family and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Youvonna; brother Ed; sister Martha; and son Robert.
