Obituary of Mildred Lee Damet

Mildred Lee (Gordon) (Carr) Damet was born September 6, 1933 in Casper, Wyoming to George Washington and Martha Gordon. Mildred passed away on June 9, 2023 at the age of 89.

 

She married Robert Henry Carr in 1949. They were married until January 30, 1988 when Robert passed away. They had 5 children, Carl Carr, Bobby Carr, Virginia Duke, Linda Stretch, and John Carr. She remarried on August 20, 1988 to Houston L. Damet and remained married until Houston’s passing in October of 2014. Mildred was blessed with 5 stepchildren, Martin Damet, John Damet, Marril Damet, Jo Ann Michaelson, and Dale Damet.

 

Mildred spent over 1000 hours volunteering at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital and worked several years as a nurse. She loved making quilts, of which she made 108 for family and friends.

 

Mildred was preceded in death by husbands Robert Carr and Houston Damet; children Carl Carr, Bobby Carr, Virginia Duke, Linda Stretch; and brother Harold Hurley. She is survived by sister Georgia Funkhouser; brothers James Gordon and Richard Gordon; son John Carr; and stepchildren Martin Damet, John Damet, Marril Damet, Jo Ann Michaelson, and Dale Damet. Mildred had several nieces and nephews, as well as munerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandson.

 

Mildred was a caring and loving person. She will be greatly missed by all.
