Obituary of Ronald Joe Knight

Ronald Joe Knight was born in San Francisco, California on September 6, 1943 to Ernest C. and Rena Ellen Markham Knight. He passed away June 19, 2023.

He attended Sapulpa High School and graduated in 1961, where he played football as a guard, making state. He was also a wrestler for Sapulpa, placing 2^nd in state his senior year.

After graduation he attended the University of Oklahoma. From his years as a studen at OU until his death, he was an avid Sooner fan. He especially enjoyed watching their football games as well as the girl’s softball team. He also enjoyed reading.

Ron worked for a number of years as a master pipe fitter in Oregon and Califoria, where he would perform inctricate welding tasks. He also was a supervosr of other’s welding. He would then decide if their work met the company’s standards. He was a member of the Union 290.

Ron was a lifelong member of Masonic Lodge 434 in Britton, Oklahoma.

In 1998 he married the love of his life, Leisi Yolany. They were married for 25 years. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Betty Johnson (Frank) from Sapulpa. He is survived by his wife Leisi, sister Sonny (Barbara) Collums (John) of Wilburton, OK, and two nieces Valeri and Janina and Leisi’s three sisters and three brothers.

When Ron decided to retire he wanted to be near his family and friends in Oklahoma who were very near and dear to him. He was a fihter to the end and will be missed by many.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Jun 23 at 2:00 PM at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel - Sapulpa 400 E. Teel Road 74066, Sapulpa.


Ronald's Final Resting Place is in Green Hill Memorial Gardens 400 E. Teel Rd., Sapulpa.

Arrangements are in the care of Green Hill Funeral Home.
