Obituary of Curt Edward Bailey

Curt Edward Bailey, 50, of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away on July 31 in his home.

Known lovingly by family and friends as “Kirky”, he was born on Sept. 2, 1972 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Richard and Nancy Bailey. He grew up in Tulsa and attended Disney Elementary School, Foster Middle School and East Central High School.

Kirky was always so much fun to be around. He put a caterpillar in his mouth when he was 5 months old. Luckily he didn’t have teeth so he couldn’t chew it and his mom pulled it out before any harm was done. After that, he was fascinated with bugs, snakes and turtles: Anything that crawled.

Before he turned 2, he became fascinated with dinosaurs. There were words he couldn’t say yet, but he could say stegosaurus. From there, he loved science, space and aircraft, especially World War 2 aircraft. He liked watching movies and having game night get togethers with his friends.

His mom Nancy says “There’s so much more to him than I can’t get into words. He was the sweetest, kindest person I’ve ever been around. I’m honored to be his mother and thankful God let me have him for 50 years. Journey well, my sweet baby boy. I will see you again.”

Kirky held many jobs, including a manager at an arcade at Eastland Mall and, his favorite job, a supervisor in the counting room at River Spirit Casino. Among his biggest passion was spending time with friends online playing games.

One of his strongest traits was his quick wit and humor. Whether it was a one-liner or a quick sketch on paper – his hidden skill was his artwork – a smile was sure.

Kirky is preceded in death by his father Richard Bailey.

He is survived by his mother Nancy of the home. Others left to fondly remember Kirky include his brother Eric and wife Rosita of Owasso, nephew Jordan Bailey and wife Sarah of Owasso, nieces Justine Bailey and Mandi Bailey of Owasso and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Kirky was loved and will be greatly missed.

Viewing and visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Green Hill Funeral Home, 9901 North Owasso Expressway, Owasso, Oklahoma.

A memorial service will be Friday, August 4, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wayne Bailey officiating.

Those serving as honorary pallbearers include Michael Bailey, Ken Bailey, Brad Cunningham, Sterling Davenport, Gi Gwan Hing, Sanderson Sandoval, John White, Sam Yell, and favorite cousin Jennifer.

After the service, the family would like to ask for all to join them for a meal at Rejoice Church (13413 E 106th St. N.) which is a three-minute drive from Green Hill Funeral Home. The entrance is at the west side of the church.
