Obituary of Celia Louise Johnson

Louise Johnson of Glenpool, OK was received into the arms of her Savior on August 25, 2023, at the age of 92. (Celia) Louise Johnson was born in Broken Arrow, OK on September 20, 1930. She was the daughter of Oliver and LuVada Forest. 

 

She met the love of her life, LaRoy Johnson, at a basketball game in Glenpool, OK. They were married on March 5, 1948, and recently celebrated 75 years of marriage. They had 3 children Forrest (Dwayne), Donald (Don), and Charles (Chuck).

 

Louise was a faithful charter member of member of Glenpool First Baptist Church. She served in many ministries over the years and enjoyed singing in the choir. She graduated from Glenpool High School in 1948 where she was a standout athlete in basketball and softball and graduated from The School of Cosmetology in 1966. Louise was a very active member of her community and over the years has served as the Glenpool Lions treasurer, Glenpool city council member, and a member of the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce. In 1989, Louise was named Vice Mayor of Glenpool. Then in 1992 Louise was named Glenpool Citizen of the Year. Louise retired from Beeline Furniture at the age of 62 after 21 years as the bookkeeper.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved being surrounded by her family. She hosted many family gatherings and holidays. She will be remembered for her faith, sense of humor, determination, generosity and loving spirit.

 

Louise is survived by her husband Roy of the home; three sons Dwayne Johnson and wife Sandy of Alamo, TX, Don Johnson and wife Kay of Sapulpa, OK, and  Chuck Johnson and wife Marna of Fruitvale, TX; grandchildren James Warren and wife A’May, Tina McBride and husband Jeffrey, Michelle McGonigal and husband Mike, Jason Johnson, Brandon Engles and wife Susan, Kimberly McIntosh and husband Joshua, Matthew Johnson and wife Tathia, Monty Johnson and wife Autumn; great-grandchildren Victoria Warren, Ashleigh Matos and Connor, Kaity Funk and Tyler, Kiersten Haney and Ryan, Alyssa Anderson and Justin, Keller Johnson, Noah Johnson, Abby Johnson, Bryce Engles, Abbey McIntosh, Jillian McIntosh, Ryker McIntosh, Rayden McIntosh, Ryan Hammons, Ali Johnson, Addisyn Vaughn, Jaycee Cress, Londynn Cress great-great-grandchildren; Fischer Haney, Hayes Haney, Mesa Anderson; as well as numerous other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents Oliver and LuVada; siblings Virgie, Frank, Albert, and Oliver; and grandson Taylor Hammon.

 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the cancer research/charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Green Hill Funeral Home.
