Obituary of Jerry Leon Robertson

Jerry Leon Robertson, 97, was born on August 7, 1926 to the late Vern Alva & Elizabeth (Stanfield) Robertson in Chandler, Oklahoma. Mr. Robertson resided in Fairfax, Oklahoma from 1931 until serving in the Army Air Corps as an Aviation Cadet in World War II. Upon returning home from the war, Mr. Robertson attended Oklahoma A&M while residing in Stillwater, until moving to Sapulpa in 1956. He was District Manager for Business Men’s Assurance Company. Mr. Robertson was a member of Sapulpa First Baptist Church, past Director of Security National Bank, past Director of Oaks Country Club for 2 terms, past President of Sapulpa Jr. Chamber of Commerce, past President of Tulsa General Agents & Managers Association, past President of Tulsa Chapter of Chartered Life Underwriters, having earned his Chartered Life Underwriters designation from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, past President of Business Men’s Assurance Manager’s Association, past Advisory Director of Business Men’s Assurance Company and past member of the Million Dollar Round Table.

Jerry began his Business Men’s Assurance career as a member of the Oklahoma City Agency in 1953 and was appointed District Supervisor in 1955 when he moved from Stillwater to Sapulpa. In 1959 he was appointed Branch Manager for the newly established Tulsa agency, a position he held for 28 years. He retired from management in 1986 and remained in personal production for Business Men’s Association with his office in Sapulpa. He was a member of Sapulpa Elks Lodge & Rotary Club and was also active in Sapulpa Masonic Lodge 170, Scottish Rite, Akdar Shrine and the Royal Order of Jesters, Court 47. His hobbies were golfing, and traveling.

Mr. Robertson is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Margy Ann  Robertson. He is survived by daughter Sandy & husband Mike Pennington of Sapulpa, son Tom & wife Ginger Robertson of Tulsa, son John & wife Sue Robertson of Shawnee, 5 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great, great, granddaughter, and 1 great-great-grandson on the way.
