Obituary of Odessa McGoy

On June 20, 1926 Odessa Lee McGoy was born to Richard Dick Walker and Carrie Garland Walker in Valliant, Oklahoma. As a young child Odessa moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma with her family where she resided until she departed this life. She attended Booker T. Washington school and was an active charter member of the BTW Alumni Club until her health declined. Odessa married the "love of her life" Milton "Fluttie" McGoy on September 8, 1944 and to this union two children were born, Andrew and Pamela. Odessa was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters Velora White and Corine Ray, two brothers, Lee Gillian and Waymon Johnson. Odessa was affectionately known as "BaBa" not only by her grandchildren but others as well. She was a very loving and caring person and she showed concern for everyone she knew. Odessa was surrounded by her family and friends with love and care throughout her illness and even until her homegoing. She leaves to cherish her memory one devoted son Andrew and daughter-in-law Katie, one loving daughter Pamela and son-in-law Onis Pankey. Four grandchildren Derek McGoy, Deron McGoy, Cherie Shaw and Marcedes Pankey. Eight step grandchildren Sonya Lee, Angela Lee, Eric Harry, Derrick Harry, Rosalind Harry, Brad, Brenden and Braden Pankey. Two life long friends Maxine Horne and Orita Murray. Two adopted daughters Lula Hopkins Brooks and Ruth Durant Hamilton. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
