Obituary of Michael Wayne Lewis

Michael Wayne Lewis, beloved son, partner, brother, and friend, passed away on November 29th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on October 13, 1982, in Tulsa, OK, Michael was 41 years old at the time of his tragic passing. He is a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation.  Michael grew up in West Tulsa and attended Webster High School. He later attended Tulsa Welding School. He became a proud CNC Operator at Aaon.  Michael was a talented welder, fabricator, and artist. Michael's warmth, humor, and generous spirit endeared him to many, and he touched the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his significant other, Elizabeth Churchill; mother, Connie Lewis; father, Virgil Lewis; brother, Robert Lewis and wife, Jaimee Lewis; nephew, Robert James Lewis; sister, Angela Wood; nephew, Brayden Wood; niece, Payzley Wood; aunt, Darlene Moore and her partner, Scott Griffin; as well as cousins - Steven Barker, Brandy Overton and her husband, Pat Overton, Damian Overton, and Jessie Miller. He was proceeded in death by his grandparents Chester and Mickey "Mimi" Moore, Don "Poppy" and Betty "Omie" Stinnet, aunt Barbara Jo Miller and cousin Amanda Jo Miller. 

 

Michael is leaving behind a treasure trove of fond memories and funny stories with his many friends. He embraced life with a sense of adventure and humor and was known for his humility and gratitude for the blessings in his life. Michael gave glory to God that he had come full circle in his life and was "free, sober and alive by God's grace." Michael’s journey to sobriety and the fullness of life made him a shining example of resilience and grace in the face of challenges. His love for his fur-babies, Little One and Bella, was boundless, and his passion for motorcycles fueled his adventurous spirit.

 

Michael's artistic talents, humor, and wit endeared him to all who crossed his path. He was a beacon of support and dependability, always there for those in need. His big heart and unwavering love for his family and friends will be remembered and celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

 

Services to honor and celebrate Michael's life will be held on Monday, December 4th, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Green Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 400 East Teel Rd, Sapulpa, OK 74066. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm on the day of the service, with burial immediately following the ceremony.

 

In memory of Michael's generous spirit, the family requests that donations be made to Lifeshare in Michael's honor, continuing his legacy of giving and hope. While Michael's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit, and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched.

 

Though Michael's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, his memory will be cherished, and his legacy will endure. May he rest in peace, knowing that the laughter, love, and light he brought into our lives will be cherished forever.
