Obituary of Cecil Simon Harry
Cecil S. Harry (Zeke), full-blood Creek/Yuchi a Creek citizen, seventy-two years old, of Hectorville, Oklahoma passed from life on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Harry Homeplace. Cecil was born October 27, 1951, in Claremore, Oklahoma to Nancy and Simon Harry.
Cecil grew up in Hectorville, OK. He attended Monroe Junior High School in Tulsa, OK to play football and graduated from Liberty High School in 1970. After High School, he went to attend Haskell Indian Nations University and transferred to Central State University (UCO) to play football where he became First Team All American Linebacker from 1972-1973.
Cecil was a devoted employee of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Okmulgee, OK he served as the Onsite Security Officer of Principal Chief Geroge Tiger and James Floyd. He enjoyed greeting employees, guests, and vendors and liked to get to know everyone who came through the Administration building and assisted with their needs. He retired from the Nation after six years to become his wife Mary Ann’s caregiver.
He was a Duck Creek Ceremonial ground member. He was a participant in traditional ceremonies. He was turtle clan. Along with his sisters, he devoted his time to researching the Harry Family Tree, Yuchi language, history, and culture, and teaching his nieces and nephews to preserve the knowledge. Cecil was the second oldest of six siblings. Cecil Harry will be deeply missed.
Cecil was preceded in death by his Wife Mary Ann Gibson, Mother Nancy Harry, Father Simon Harry, Sister Sue Walker, and Nephew Jonathan Harry.
Cecil is survived by his daughter Eva Nance, of Norman, OK, two sons Rick Fraizer, Norman, OK, Tony Frazier, Norman, OK, two sisters, Bonnie Antelope of Hectorville, OK, Charlotte Tiger of Okmulgee, OK and two brothers Randy Harry, Robbee Harry of Hectorville, OK; Nephews Philp Moore and wife Marsha Moore of Bixby, OK, Ted Tiger and wife Kensey Tiger of Jenks, OK, Luke Tiger of Okmulgee, OK, Clint Walker and Tristen Walker of Talala, OK, Walker, Cody Walker Glenpool, OK; Nieces Lindsley Harry and Samantha Harry of Sapulpa, OK, Britney Tiger, of Hectorville, OK. Plus, many great nephews, nieces, and a host of family and friends.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 6-8pm at Green Hill Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 11am at Morning Star. Arrangements are under the direction of Green Hill Funeral Home.
